IRI BIG DATA BIG KICKS (4-2-2) vs. Beercelona (2-4-1) – Tuesday, August 13, 2019
IRI BIG DATA BIG KICKS were coming off their top offensive game of the season, scoring 5 goals last week. Additionally, they were the higher ranked #6 seed playing the #11 seed, Beercelona. The two MVPs in this match were the goalkeeper for IRI BIG DATA BIG KICKS, Stefano Thoma, who had a shutout, and Kyle Breitenbach who scored all the goals in the game. IRI BIG DATA BIG KICKS have an extra week of rest coming up with a coveted bye. Beercelona struggled to get it going in this one and couldn’t seem to find the back of the net. Beercelona has now been eliminated from the playoffs following this loss.
Freight FC (3-3-2) vs. JLL (2-3-2) – Tuesday, August 13, 2019
In this Quarter-Finals game, the #7 seed, Freight FC, took on the #9 seed, JLL. JLL didn’t have their best stuff in this game, but they’ve had 7 overall goals this season. Freight FC took home the win 3-0 against JLL to advance in the playoffs. JLL has sadly been eliminated from playoff contention following the loss. Freight FC moved on following their win, check out below to see how they did! Trevor is the goalkeeper credited with the shutout for Freight FC. Thunder (6-1) vs. Freight FC (3-3-2) – Tuesday, August 13, 2019
No one expected this Quarter-Finals games to be such a close one. Thunder, the #1 seed just squeaked by in this 1-point game to beat the #7 seed, Freight FC, with a final score of 3-2. Freight FC has been eliminated after their second-round loss in the playoffs. Alex was the star player for Freight FC this week. They scored all two goals for their team. Ben Hushek leads Thunder this season in scoring and added 3 goals to their stats this week bringing Ben Hushek’s personal total to 4. Next up for Thunder a semi-final match next week against the winners of Legendz and Benchwarmer FC.
IRI BIG DATA BIG KICKS (4-2-2) vs. Cuervos F.C. (5-2) – Tuesday, August 13, 2019
IRI BIG DATA BIG KICKS were coming off their top offensive game of the season, scoring 5 goals last week. However, they were the lower ranked #6 seed playing the #2 seed, Cuervos F.C. They would have to play their best if they wanted to advance to the next round. IRI BIG DATA BIG KICKS came ready for a double header this week. Incredibly, they won both matches and increased their total goals scored to 19. Kyle Breitenbach leads IRI BIG DATA BIG KICKS this season in scoring and added 3 goals to their stats this week bringing Kyle Breitenbach’s personal total to 13, which is the highest in the league. Cuervos F.C. struggled to get it going on the offensive end in this one, scoring less than their average of 2.7 GPG this year. The losing team still had notable players including Norman Astudillo, who scored one goal for Cuervos F.C. IRI BIG DATA BIG KICKS will play the winner of Velvet Taquitos and Yeovil in the semi-finals. Cuervos F.C. was eliminated following their loss in this round.
Yeovil (4-1-2) vs. Muchas Ganas FC (0-7) – Tuesday, August 13, 2019
Yeovil, the #2 seed, played Muchas Ganas FC, the #14 seed, in this Quarter-Finals game. The last time these two teams met in week 5, Yeovil won 2-0. No surprise here, the results were very similar this time, with the final score being 5-0. Muchas Ganas FC didn’t have their best stuff on offense in this game and came short of making it onto the scoreboard. They’re on fire Mike is the goalkeeper credited with the shutout for Yeovil. Helping on the offense, Juan Hernandez was among those who scored in this playoff win for Yeovil. Muchas Ganas FC will need to regroup for next season for another shot at the championship. Next up for Yeovil is a semi-final match against Velvet Taquitos next week.
Benchwarmer FC (5-2) vs. The Ball Handlers (1-6) – Tuesday, August 13, 2019
Benchwarmer FC was the higher ranked #2 seed playing the #13 seed, The Ball Handlers. They just barely took the win to advance to the semi-finals next week, with a final score of 2-1. Colin Parsons was among those who scored in this playoff win for Benchwarmer FC, putting one shot past The Ball Handlers goalkeeper, Edward. The Ball Handlers really struggled defensively in this game, surrendering more goals than their average of 1.7 goals against per game this season. Alex scored the only goal for The Ball Handlers to get their team on the board. The Ball Handlers has been eliminated following their playoff loss in this round.
Legendz (2-4-1) vs. INDY Team #11 (4-2-1) – Tuesday, August 13, 2019
They weren’t the favored team, but Legendz, the #11 seed upset the #5 seed, INDY Team #11, in this Quarter-Finals match with a score of 4-0. Jef is the goalkeeper credited with the shutout for Legendz. Helping on the offense, Reid Olsen was among those who scored in this playoff win for Legendz. Next up for Legendz is a match against Benchwarmer FC. INDY Team #11 were unable to get rolling on the offensive end in this one and came short of making it onto the scoreboard. INDY Team #11 lost its shot at the championship and will have to wait until next season for another shot.
Velvet Taquitos (3-4) vs. Soccer Scrubs (3-3-1) – Tuesday, August 13, 2019
It was an exciting Quarter-Finals games, in which the #9 seed, Velvet Taquitos, squeaked by with a 1-point win against the #7 seed, Soccer Scrubs with a final score of 1-0. Soccer Scrubs didn’t have their best stuff on offense in this one and couldn’t seem to find the back of the net. Velvet Taquitos are heating up with two wins in a row. The two MVPs in this close match were the goalkeeper for Velvet Taquitos, Bogan, who had a shutout, and Nick Stuedemann who scored the only goal of the game. Soccer Scrubs will have to regroup for next season following their loss. Next up for Velvet Taquitos is a semi-final match against Yeovil.
