Lady Cougars (6-1-2) vs. Team Awesome (2-7) – Monday, December 9, 2019

Lady Cougars were coming off their top offensive game of the season, scoring 9 goals last week. Additionally, they were the higher ranked #1 seed playing the #12 seed, Team Awesome. They just barely took the win to advance to Team Awesome didn’t have their best showing in terms of defense in this one, allowing more goals than their average of 1.8 goals against per game for the year. Simon Lockwood-Bean scored the only goal for Team Awesome to save them from a shutout. This week, Lady Cougars came ready for a double header. Both matches were victories helping to boost them to the #1 rank in the standings. Jared Ruffing leads Lady Cougars this season in scoring and added another goal to their stats this week bringing Jared Ruffing’s personal total to 3. Velvet Taquitos (6-1-3) vs. Team International (4-3-1) – Monday, December 9, 2019

It was an exciting Quarter-Finals games, in which the #3 seed, Velvet Taquitos, squeaked by with a 1-point win against the #6 seed, Team International. This was one of two games for Velvet Taquitos this week. This was the better played match, which helped them lock in their #3 rank in the standings table. Tiberiu Stan leads Velvet Taquitos this season in scoring and added another goal to their stats this week bringing Tiberiu Stan’s personal total to 7, which is the highest in the league. Velvet Taquitos moved on to the semi-finals, see how they did in the recaps below! In spite of the loss, Team International has been doing great on offense so far, with a total of 22 goals. Mario Selent scored the only goal for Team International to save them from a shutout.

Lady Cougars (6-1-2) vs. Invincible Super Solemates (3-4-2) – Monday, December 9, 2019

Lady Cougars were coming off their top offensive game of the season, scoring 9 goals last week. Additionally, they were the higher ranked #1 seed playing the #9 seed, Invincible Super Solemates. They just barely took the win to advance to Invincible Super Solemates didn’t have their best stuff on the offensive end in this game, scoring fewer than their average of 1.8 goals per game for the year. Jasmin Figueroa scored the only goal for Invincible Super Solemates to save them from a shutout. Lady Cougars had a double header this week. Impressively, they won both matches and increased their total goals scored to 26. Tucker Yinger did all the scoring for Lady Cougars in this game, including the game-winning goal. Avocado Discoballs (6-1-2) vs. Velvet Taquitos (6-1-3) – Monday, December 9, 2019

It was an exciting Semi-Finals matches, in which the #1 seed, Avocado Discoballs, squeaked by with a 1-point win against the #3 seed, Velvet Taquitos. Avocado Discoballs had two games this week. This was the better played match, which helped them lock in their #1 rank in the standings table. Eugene Ballantine was among those who scored in this playoff win for Avocado Discoballs, putting one shot past the Velvet Taquitos goalkeeper, Dan . Avocado Discoballs moved to the championship, see how it ended up below! Velvet Taquitos had a double header this week. Sometimes double headers help you get in a groove, other times they lead to tired legs, but instead they ended up widening their goal differential gap to 12.

In this suspenseful Championship Game, the #1 team, Lady Cougars played the #1 team, Avocado Discoballs, for the coveted Chicago Sport and Social Club long-sleeve champ shirts to forever capture their moment of glory. Lady Cougars won in 4-2 in a high-stress shootout for the title of champions. Avocado Discoballs had two games this week. Sometimes double headers help you get in a groove, other times they lead to tired legs, but at least the loss didn’t ding their standings too bad as they still sit at the top of the table in 1st place. Lady Cougars had a double header this week. Both matches were victories helping to boost them to the #1 rank in the standings. The two MVPs in this close match were the goalkeeper for Lady Cougars, Alex Jeske, who had a shutout, and Jared Ruffing who scored the only goal of the game. Avocado Discoballs came so close to the championship title. They’re not an easy team to beat and looking ahead to next season, they are definitely a team that will be at the top of the standings table. Congratulations to Lady Cougars on a great season and their championship win! We hope to see this squad return to defend their title.
